How to borrow a Bike, Trike or Scooter
Step One: Go to the designated Contact Person and ask to borrow a
vehicle. See the Contact Person List below
Sign a RSCC/SWOG User Contract . This Contract obligates the User to be financially responsible for reckless or irresponsible use of club vehicles, and is a liability release. The Contract is signed once, immediately prior to the first borrowing of a vehicle.
Step Two: Initial on the RSCC/SWOG Check Out/In Sheet to check
out a vehicle. The Contact Person will issue you a key for each bike or trike´s cable lock. Scooters only have an ignition’ lock.
Step Three: Go to the Bike Fleet Storage Room in Members Lounge
or to the Scooter Room on Sherman/D-2 and unlock the appropriate vehicle. Take the cable lock with you, and ride! Remember to secure a bike or trike to a substantial anchor’ when you are not riding it to prevent theft and financial loss to yourself! Pull the key from a scooter when not on it.
(Note: A short pole or parking meter are not good anchors! Bikes or trikes secured to them with a cable lock can simply be lifted over them and taken away. Use a tree, telephone pole or a bike rack in good condition as an anchor.’ Also, don´t use a motor vehicle since the driver might forget’ about the bike or trike and drive over or away with them dragging behind!)
Step Four: When you´re finished, return the vehicle to its storage
area and secure it.
If there are no Contact Persons available and/or if the storage area is locked, secure the vehicle outside of your room to the hand rail (scooters are parked outside your room) and keep the key with you until you can return it.
Step Five: Return the key to the Contact Person, and check the
vehicle back In on the Check Out/In Sheet. Please record any mechanical/safety problems you had with the vehicle on the Sheet.
If you have any mechanical problems, you are asked to describe them on the Sheet so that the clubs can fix the faulty vehicle. Note, normal wear and tear is the clubs´ responsibility, not the borrower´s! We ask that you list any problems you have had so that we can get them fixed immediately. The clubs do not want any unsafe, mechanically compromised vehicles on the road. Help insure the safety and well being of the rider after you by reporting all problems. We will tag out’ a defective vehicle until it can be returned to safe service.
